Why We Created It
We Were Already Trying To Solve The Case.
Dead Letter Bureau began with two things we've always shared: a love of mysteries and a love of spending time together.
Like a lot of couples, we've spent countless evenings watching detective shows, crime documentaries, thrillers and mystery films while trying to solve the case before the characters did.
We were always looking for the detail that didn't fit — the witness statement that contradicted something else, the missing piece of evidence, the clue hiding in plain sight.
Eventually, watching someone else investigate wasn't enough.
The Idea
Put The Investigation On The Table.
We wanted something we could physically spread out, pick apart, argue over, revisit and solve together. Not a story that simply revealed the culprit when the episode ended.
That's what became Dead Letter Bureau: reconstructed investigations built around reports, statements, photographs, receipts, maps, notes and the tiny inconsistencies that make a mystery worth solving.
What started as a shared passion project between a husband and wife is becoming a growing archive for people who would rather be the investigator than the audience.

How We Build A Case
A case should feel like something recovered from an archive — not a stack of puzzles wearing a detective costume.
Evidence First
We don't start with a riddle and force a story around it. The investigation comes first, and every document has a reason to exist.
Believable Materials
Witness interviews, photos, police notes, receipts, maps, transcripts and archive records should feel like they belong together.
Fair Answers
The truth is contained in the file. Observation, logic and attention to detail should get you there without impossible leaps.
